Cardamom + Coffee Scrub

Lovely Little Treat

Because caffeine contains antioxidants, it is used in a number of anti-ageing products. In fact, Indonesians have long used coffee in spa body scrubs, and now you can purchase a variety of different skin care products containing caffeine.

Caffeine does have some benefits when applied to your skin and may brighten up your complexion as well as ‘perking’ up your body too!

Caffeine’s ability to constrict small blood vessels and reduce inflammation is an asset in a number of creams designed to minimze dark circles and sagging skin under the eyes. These same anti-inflammatory qualities serve caffeine well as an ingredient in cellulite creams, where caffeine’s ability to cause dehydration is put to good use drawing excess fluid from fat cells to improve the skin’s appearance.

1. Exfoliation:

Exfoliating on a regular basis helps us get rid of dead skin cells which hang out on the surface of our skin and allow new skin cells to turnover, making our skin look rejuvenated and more radiant.

2. Cellulite reduction:

It also helps improve cellulite by increasing the circulation and moving lymph around our body (lymph is a short word for moving the fluid that’s present in our lymphatic system, it’s an important part of overall health and detoxification.)

3. Self-love:

Yep, I just want to make stuff that means you have to love up on your body all the more. Try it. You deserve it.

INSTRUCTIONS

1/2 cup of used coffee grounds
1/4 cup coconut oil (straight from the jar, no melting.)
4 drops doterra cardamom essential oil

Mix in a bowl until everything is combined and keep at room temperature.

HOW TO USE
Using a palm full of the scrub, start towards the end of your body (towards your feet) and work your way up exfoliating in a circular motion until you’ve reached your neck.
